Which is better NUC10i3FNH or NUC8i3BEH?

As with a lot of things, the newer the model the better it is with features, specs and new technology. And everybody loves something new because it usually means better.

But sometimes we have to re-assure of ourselves if we indeed got the better deal with getting the new model. We look at the specs, we get the reviews, we ultimately find ways and means to justify that we made the right choice.

We start the comparison by comparing these two models based on specifications:

based on specifications

Processor Base Frequency (+NUC8i3BEH)
2.10GHz vs 3.00GHz

Max Turbo Frequency (+NUC10i3FNH)
4.10GHz vs 3.60GHz

Max Memory Size (+NUC10i3FNH)
64GB DDR4-2666 vs 32GB DDR4-2400

Processor Graphics
Intel UHD Graphics for 10th Gen vs Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655

Integrated Wireless (+NUC10i3FNH)
Intel Wifi 6 AX201 vs Intel Wireless-AC 9560

Conclusion based on specification:
Basing it on specifications, the newer model clearly is a better deal. Only the processor base frequency on the older model is better but again since the processor has turbo frequency it might even turn out that the newer processor has a better performance. The max memory size in the newer model is double that of the old one, and the wifi too has greatly improved from a wifi5 to a wifi6. No brainer, clearly basing it from specs, I would definitely go for NUC10i3FNH.

based on benchmark (Passmark PerformanceTest 10)

CPU Mark (+NUC8i3BEH)
4215 vs 4394

2D Graphics Mark (+NUC8i3BEH)
260 vs 398

3D Graphics Mark (+NUC8i3BEH)
867 vs 1675

Conclusion based on benchmark:
I cannot come to a conclusion when it does not make sense. When the comparision based on specs clearly is the otherway around based on benchmark. Tested the benchmark software multiple times, reinstalling the OS multiple times, using another unit with same model.... unfortunately the results are the same. The benchmark shows an advantage to NUC8i3BEH. Maybe I would say the CPU is not that much but the Graphics is like close to double. Sorry to disappoint everybody including myself, but this clearly shows that NUC8i3BEH has better performance in terms of graphics (based on the benchmark software).

Both Intel NUC8i3BEH and NUC10i3FNH are great products with more or less similar pricing. For those who don't have plans to go as high as 64GB and does not clearly have the need for WIFI6, then getting an Intel NUC8i3BEH is a good recommendation. It is just that this model will not be available soon and is limited in stocks.

For those who have an existing NUC8i3BEH, congratulations I would say because you are using a model that have extended its life knowing that it still performs well compared to the newer model.

For those who got the NUC10i3FNH, getting the newer model is always a choice even when benchmarks shows it performs poorly in graphics.

Buttom line is that it serves the very purpose the unit is being used with stability and reliability.
